In January 2018, Bulgaria will assume the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union for a period of six months. While politicians diplomatically say that this is a chance for a Member State of the EU to exercise leadership and to promote policies it is committed to, in practice this is an extended advertising campaign. Yet, what can Bulgaria´s government advertise and why is it disturbing that it will play this role?
