Address by Tzvetan Vassilev

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

There have been a number of speculations in the media stating that I have been "hiding" outside the country. I would like to state that the sole reason for my stay outside Bulgaria is my personal security, which would allow me to focus on Corpbank AD’s stabilization and recovery.

I believe that the measures that I have been taking will benefit Corpbank AD’s clients and employees as well as the state. I would not have been able to work effectively towards the resolution of the crisis in Corpbank AD if I were in Bulgaria. This is due to the fact that there are certain circles which would prevent me from working on my initiatives and my presence in Bulgaria would allow them to do it.

I clearly state that I will report to the Prosecution as soon as I am subpoenaed as the revealing of the truth serves my interest, too.

I would like to once again express my regret for the three conscientious employees of the bank who became victims of the attack against Corpbank AD, their relatives and colleagues who are being harassed and humiliated on a daily basis, and the thousands depositors and clients of the bank who do not have access to their funds.

I am certain that this absurd situation which was caused by some people’s unclean personal interests will have a favorable outcome. I have the firm intent to fight for Corpbank AD’s recovery until the end and I believe justice will prevail. I hope that the people who believe in this cause will do the same.

My attorneys will take all the necessary legal steps against the people who think that they could tarnish my reputation without being punished.
