Censorship by Radio Focus (Bulgaria)

On 7 September 2022, I gave an interview to journalist Tsonya Sabcheva on Radio Focus (Bulgaria). Our conversation in which we discussed different facets of the Corpbank case lasted more than 30 minutes. The main reason why the journalist invited me was the judgment by the European Court of Human Rights of 30 August 2022 establishing a dual violation of Art. 6(1) of the ECHR as well as a violation of Art. 1 of Protocol 1 by Bulgaria in connection with the withdrawal of the bank´s license and the subsequent proceedings before the Supreme Administrative Court.

Sabcheva and I dissected a number of details - the specifics of the 2014 attack against Corporate Commercial Bank (Korporativna targovska banka), the main actors, the role of political parties, the crimes of the KTB receivers in bankruptcy, the silence of the new parties allegedly showing commitment to aniti-corruption efforts and so on. On 8 September 2022, Radio Focus published six summaries covering different topics of the interview. On 9 September 2022, Radio Focus published the full transcript of the interview on its website. Just a week later, however, the transcript disappeared from their website without a trace, along with five of the six summaries.

Who benefits from the censorship by Radio Focus? In order to draw your own conclusions on the non-existent ethics of the non-tabloid Bulgarian media and the culture of censorship plaguing Bulgaria, I am publishing the full transcript of the interview here - you can find it as a pdf attachment.

Shortly after the publication of this material, supporters reached out to me providing a sound recording of my interview with Tsonya Sabcheva. I believe this shows that censorship can be fought if we join efforts!
