Tzvetan Vassilev´s Interview for Journalist Luba KulezichJanuary 17th, 2019On 16 January 2019, Tzvetan Vassilev gave an interview to journalist Luba Kulezich regarding the unprecedented harassment of witnesses in the Corpbank case. Last week, the prosecution arrested key witnesses in the small hours of the night and subsequently pressed charges against them based on the false testimony of Biser Lazov and documents for which two graphological examinations proved they were forged.
“Bulgaria’s Prosecutor’s Office and Biser Lazov act like an organized criminal group for inventing evidence against innocent people,” Vassilev argued. “Clearly, they feel they can do anything with impunity,” he added. In light of the arrests, he underscored that he believed justice would triumph and that he would do anything possible for this nightmare to be over the soonest possible.
"The proceedings, which the Prosecutor´s Office initiated against me, are entirely fabricated. They are well aware they have no arguments,” Vassilev stressed.
Tzvetan Vassilev expressed concern that all political parties were silent about the obvious abuses taking places. However, he asserted that thanks to the efforts of his family and supporters, the Corpbank case has become well known abroad. Therefore, international institutions, including the European Commission, will sooner or later turn their eyes to Bulgaria.
Regarding the speculation about this Magnitsky application, Vassilev commented: "The application is still current."
